Kauai 2012

Nana and Papa organized a great family vacation to Kauai this summer. We spent a week at the Point at Poipu and explored as much of Kauai as we could. Kaela was a little fish (as always) in the pool and beach and loved playing with the sand making cakes, handprints, and structures at the water's edge. This year she also had new moves to show off, courtesy of her swim lessons. "Fishes in the sea, we all jump in on one, two, three" was her favorite activity in the pool. She also loved wearing her goggles to "snorkel" and practiced holding her breath underwater so she could see what was going on. Since she is an avid fan of Dora the Explorer, she created adventures during most activities, especially during the hikes. On one hike she described the adventure in detail for the whole way to the waterfall - over a mile on a rocky path! She also was able to kayak for the first time on our trip up the Wailua River. With her own paddle she "helped" move us along. The luau may have been her favorite night-time activity though - she loved the food and was mesmerized by the hula and fire dancers. It inspired her to practice some hula moves during the rest of the trip :). Thank you Nana and Papa for such a great week!
