Virgin Islands 2011

What better way to attend a medical conference than in the Virgin Islands? We decided to make the opportunity into a family vacation and brought along Ali and Logan too. We spent most of the time on St. Thomas but took the ferry to St. John for a day to enjoy some hiking, swimming, and snorkeling. With temperatures between 78-85, it was a tropical paradise! We spent our days walking through Charlotte Amalie, going to St. John, swimming in the beautiful pool, relaxing in the ocean at various beaches, and diving (Ryan and Rona). Kaela was a little fish the whole time, spending more time in the water than she had all summer! She became comfortable going under water and trying out her new swimming moves. The beaches and bays were so calm that she could easily play in the ocean without fear of the waves. Some of Kaela's favorite phrases during the trip which I can't say she has ever said before: "where is the iguana?", "he was huge", "i want the chicks" (chicken strips), "where's the bucket?", "are we going to our special room" (what she called our hotel room), "where's my ladybug?", and my favorite "the bug is stuck in the amber".
