Happy 1st Birthday

Kaela turned 1 on February 12th, 2010. She started the day playing with Ryan in the morning, then we went to breakfast with Savta and Grandpa. Kaela tasted whipped cream for the first time to go with her blueberry pancakes. She actually preferred the whipped cream over the pancakes, so I think it was a hit. Later in the afternoon Nana, Papa and Uncle Rob drove up from Santa Barbara to spend the weekend with us. Rob sang a very special "Happy Birthday" to Kaela when they arrived.
A typical day in the life of Kaela as a 1 year old:
Wake up around 6:30-7am. Play in room until it is time to get dressed and have breakfast. After breakfast she plays some more - at the house, in the cottage, at Wee Play, going to MOMs Club activities, jogging with Mom, playing with her grandparents if Mom is at work, going to SadieDey's Cafe or Play Cafe, going to the park, playdates. Then it is time for lunch and a nap. She's pretty consistent about taking a 2 hour nap, but sometimes she gets up 1/2-way through to finish the nap out snuggled on someone's (Mom's) lap. After the nap it is snacktime and more playing - usually at the park if the weather is nice. We have met quite a few other kids her age at the park, so it is fun seeing them in the afternoon. Then it is time for dinner, a bath, playing/reading, then bedtime around 7pm. Not a bad day.
Some of Kaela's favorite foods: yogurt, cheerios, puffs, blueberries, tofu, grapes, cheese, broccoli, sweet potatoes, smart dogs, apples (she even likes to eat a peeled whole apple by herself!), pears, and bananas. She prefers to feed herself with fingerfoods, and will turn her head when she sees the spoon until she tastes it and decides she likes it.
Things she likes most: "milkies", sleeping with her pink blanket, walking around (assisted with 2 hands - the walking stops if we let go of one hand), pointing, unzipping anything, taking clothes out of the drawer, pushing buttons, watching other kids, talking, playing with her family and friends.
Year 1 was quite an adventure, and we are so excited for what the future holds in store for her! Happy Birthday Kaela! We love you so very much.
