Mom here taking over the blog for a little bit - as a busy 11-month old, Kaela doesn't have much time to blog. These days Kaela enjoys pointing at things (especially little lights like on a remote or clocks), pushing toys across the floor as she crawls, stacking things (even pieces of her food), pressing buttons, talking, taking baths in the duck with her toys, "drinking" from anything that looks like a cup (including the sand bucket), screeching (aka sonic attack), helping us take off her clothes, crawling around naked before taking a bath, playing the keyboard, playing with Koko, and emptying drawers (her dresser, the tupperware bin - anything that has stuff in it). She is such a little thinker and observer and is always watching what people do. Then, out of the blue she will do something new easily, as if she has been doing it forever. I am constantly amazed by her abilities. She still has little desire to walk other than cruising around the furniture, but occasionally she will take a few steps with a standing push-toy. She continues to practice standing up on her own (without holding on to anything), and it is fun watching her figure out what exactly she needs to do with her legs to do it. Kaela has also turned out to be a little daredevil. She likes to play on the tall playground structures at our nearby park and go head first down the slides. She is generally good about waiting until someone is at the bottom of the slide, but sometimes it requires a mad dash to catch her so she does not fly off the bottom. The faster the slide the more she likes it. She also likes when we hold her up and pretend to drop her. Such a thrill-seeker already. Overall, we are having so much fun with our not-so-little baby (she can be an official toddler once she actually toddles) and can't believe she is almost 1 year old! Time really has flown by this year.
